Introduction

The following is a suggested workflow on how to trouble shoot any issues you encounter.

Approach 1

  1. Use the Diagnostic Tool to scan for issues if Amicus is diaplaying a specific error.
  2. Read the relevant Trouble Shooting Guide for the issue area (eg Sales).

Approach 2

If you are looking for product information, eg how to do something, consult the manual.

For example, search for keywords related to your query, or browse the relevant sections of the manual.

If you are still unable to resolve your issue using approaches 1 and 2, please contact your dealer.

General Issues

Issue:

Amicus fails to open with an 'Unable to initialise error logging' error and return to desktop

Solution:

Problem could be the following:

1.) You currently have one of the files in Amicus directory\Errorlogs open

2.) UAC is not letting you run the program properly. Right click on Amicus and 'Run as Administrator' and see if that works. If it does, then right click on the Amicus icon, go to properties and tick 'Always run as administrator'

3.) The user currently logged onto the computer doesn’t have permission to write to the Amicus folder.

Issue:

Trying to backup the database through Amicus gives you an error

Solution:

If SQL is installed with default options, then the SQL Server service will be using the Network Service logon. Ensure the SQL Server service that is running is logging on with Local System, or an administrator account with a password.

To fix, navigate to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Find the ‘SQL Server’ service. Right click -> Properties, and navigate to the Log On tab. Click the ‘Local System account’. Upon saving, it will ask you to restart the SQL service to save the changes. Right click on the ‘SQL Server’ service and select ‘Restart’ to do this. WARNING: Doing this will take the database offline temporarily until the service is started again.
