Using Outlook Express with ACT!

Outlook Express is compatible with ACT!, but some of ACT!'s e-mail features are limited or inactive when used with Outlook Express. Please consider the following limitations before choosing Outlook Express as your e-mail client.

  • Outlook Express works only with a POP3 protocol, and will not work with IMAP or HTTP accounts, such as Hotmail.

  • You can only send plain-text messages from ACT! with Outlook Express.

  • When you perform an e-mail merge, the recipients will receive the body of the message as plain text with the message itself as an HTML attachment.

  • Only the Inbox folders of ACT! and Outlook Express contain e-mail messages from both systems. All other folders contain only the messages originating in their own respective systems.

  • You may receive a security warning each time you send e-mail from ACT!. You can disable this message by selecting Don’t warn me anymore. For more information, see Disabling the virus protection error message.

  • If you use Outlook Express to access your e-mail over the Internet, consider using ACT!'s Internet Mail.
