Setting and clearing tab stops

You can set a tab stop for the entire document, the line at the insertion point, or for a selected section of text.

To set a tab stop

  1. If necessary, open the document.

The document appears in the word processor.

  1. Position the cursor on the line where you want to set the tab, select the area for which you want to set the tab, or press CTRL+A to set a tab for the entire document.

  2. From the Format menu, click Tab.

The Tabs dialog box appears.

  1. In the Tab stop position field, type the number you want to use for the tab stop.

  2. From the Alignment box, align the tab Left, Center, or Right.

  3. Click Set, and then click OK.

To clear a tab stop

  1. From the Format menu, click Tab.

The Tabs dialog box appears.

  1. From the list of tabs, select the tab, and then click Clear.

To clear all tab stops, click Clear All.
