Using the word processing ruler

You can use the ruler on the ACT! word processor to change margins or to set tab stops. To view the ruler, from the View menu, select Ruler.

The ruler format is determined by the Measurement system field in Windows Regional Settings. To change the format of the ruler, see Windows online Help.

To change margins from the ruler

  1. If necessary, open the document.

The document appears in the word processor.

  1. Select the paragraph to which you want to apply the margins, or press CTRL+A to select the entire document.

  2. Drag the right or left margin marker to a new position. The margin marker displays as an arrow above the ruler.

To set tab stops from the ruler

  1. If necessary, open the document.

The document appears in the word processor.

  1. Place the cursor in the paragraph where you want to set a tab, or press CTRL+A to select the entire document.

  2. Click the location in the ruler where you want to place a tab.

To move a tab

  • Select the tab, and then drag it to a new location on the ruler.

To remove a tab

  • Select the tab and drag it off the ruler.
