Understanding your e-mail system's offline behavior

Depending on the e-mail system(s) you use, how e-mail works in the offline mode differs. The following sections explain the typical behavior of working in offline mode for each system ACT! supports.

Microsoft Outlook and Eudora

  • Online and offline settings are controlled by these e-mail systems, not by ACT!.

  • Messages you create and send remain in your Outbox until you are connected to that e-mail system's mail server.

Outlook Express or Internet Mail

When you use these e-mail systems, we recommend that you switch to offline mode when not connected to the Internet.

  • These e-mail systems use the same connection settings for Internet Explorer that are set in the Internet Options Control Panel.

  • ACT!'s online and offline settings share these e-mail systems' settings. For example, if Internet Explorer or Outlook Express is set to work offline, ACT!'s e-mail is also set to work offline.

  • Messages you create and send remain in your Outbox until you are connected to the Internet.
