Replacing data with another value

Replacing data with another value

You can replace the contents of a field with another value. This operation modifies all records in the current lookup, so before performing it, create a lookup of the contact, group, or company records you want to modify. For example, the ZIP Code for a city has been changed, and you need to make the change in several contact records.

The Replace Field function changes all data in a lookup. This can cause data loss so you should back up the database before using Replace Field.

To replace data with another value

  1. Create a lookup.

  2. From the Edit menu, select Replace Field.

  3. In the Replace Data dialog box, in the Replace contents of field, select a field from the list.

  4. In the Value field, depending upon the field you selected in Step 3, select a value from the list or type a value, and then click OK.

  5. At the confirmation message box, click Yes.
