Creating and formatting numbered lists
To create and format a numbered list
If necessary, open the document.
The document appears in the word processor.
From the Format menu, point to Bullets and Numbering, and then click Attributes.
The Bullets and Numbering dialog box appears.
From the Bulleted/Numbered box, select the numbered list option.
From the Number style list, select the number style.
To include a character before or after the number style, from the Character in front list, select the character to use before the number, and from the Character after list, select the character you want to use after the number.
If you want to begin the list with a specific number, in the Start at field, type the number.
To restart the numbering in the list, select Restart numbering; to continue the list from the last consecutive number, select Continue list.
In the Bullet/Number position field, set the amount of space you want to use between the number in the list and the text in the document.
In the Text position field, specify the amount of space you want to use to increase or decrease the space between the number in the list and the text for the list.
In the Separating Character list, select Tab or Space as the separating character between the number in the list and the text for the list, or select None to avoid using a separating character, and then click OK.
To increase or decrease the distance between the list and the margin, from the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click Increase Level or Decrease Level. |
