Adding a rectangle to report templates or layouts

You can use the Rectangle tool to add a rectangle, square, or horizontal line to a report template or layout. To create a horizontal line, Snap to Grid must be off. For more information about the Snap to Grid feature, see Turning on Snap to Grid in a report template or layout.

To add a rectangle, square, or line to a report template

  1. Create or modify a report template.

The report appears in the Report Designer.

  1. In the Toolbox, click the Rectangle tool.

  2. Position the cross-hair pointer on the template where you want to place the rectangle or square.

  3. Click and drag the mouse to define the width and height.

To add a rectangle, square, or line to a layout

  1. Open a layout in the Layout Designer window.

  2. From the Toolbox, click Drawing, and then click Rectangle.

  3. Position the cross-hair pointer on the layout or template where you want to place the rectangle or square.

  4. Click and drag the mouse to define the width and height.
