Save the SQL statement for a form or report as a query (MDB)

Note  The information in this topic applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb).

By saving as a query the SQL statement displayed in the RecordSource property of a form or report, you can run the query independently, or base new forms and reports on the query.

  1. Open a form or report in Design view.
  2. Double-click the form selector or the report selector to open the property sheet for the form or report.
  3. Next to the RecordSource property box, click the Build button Button image to display query Design view.
  4. Click Save Button image on the toolbar.
  5. In the Save As dialog box, enter a name that follows Microsoft Access object-naming rules, and then click OK.

Microsoft Access adds the query to Queries Button image under Objects in the Database window.
