Rename a field in a table or datasheet (MDB)

Important  If you have expressions or Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications code that contains references to a field whose name you are changing, you must update all of those references to the new name.

  1. Open the table in Design view.
  2. Double-click the field name you want to change.
  3. Type the new field name.
  4. Click Save Button image on the toolbar to save your changes.

  1. Open the table in Datasheet view.
  2. Double-click the field selector of the field that you want to change.
  3. Type the new field name and press ENTER to save it.

  1. Open the table in Design view.
  2. In the upper portion of the window, click the field for which you want to define a different column name.
  3. In the lower portion of the window, click the Caption property box, and then type the text for the column name. The text can contain any combination of letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols up to 255 characters in length.
