Set an alternative text description for a picture or shape on a Web page
When you save your work as a Web page, the alternative text description is used by the Web browser if pictures or shapes are slow to load or if they are missing.
- Click the picture or shape.
- On the Format menu, click AutoShape or Picture and then click the Web tab.
- In the Alternative text box, type the text you want. The text can be up to 256 characters, but some Web browsers might be able to display only a limited number of the characters.
Note By default, the text you enter in a WordArt object or the text you add to a shape is used as the alternative text description unless you specify text on the Web tab.
