Add a graphic background to text

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Select the paragraphs that you want to add a background to.
  3. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading, and then click the Shading tab.
  4. Under Patterns, in the Background picture box, type the location of the graphic you want to use.
  5. Set the properties for the background graphic.

    Do one or more of the following:
    • In the Vertical position and Horizontal position boxes, specify how you want to align the graphic.

    • In the Repeat box, specify how you want to tile the graphic.

      For example, to tile the graphic horizontally, click repeat-x. To tile the graphic vertically, click repeat-y.

    • In the Attachment box, specify whether the background graphic should be fixed relative to the browser window, or whether it should scroll with the document.
