Apply a style

Do one or more of the following:

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Do one of the following:

    ShowApply a style to text

    1. Select the text or paragraph that you want to apply a style to.

    2. On the Formatting toolbar, in the Style box Button image, click the built-in or user-defined character or paragraph style you want.

      Notes

      • Character styles are shown in the Style box by a small, underlined letter a in front of the style name. Use character styles when you select part, but not all, of a paragraph.

Only one built-in character style is installed with Microsoft FrontPage (shown in the Style box as Default Character Style and preceded by a small, underlined letter a). The Default Character Style removes formatting applied by user-defined character styles.

      • Paragraph styles are identified by a paragraph symbol (for built-in styles) or the absence of a character or symbol (for user-defined styles) in front of the style name.

ShowApply a style to a page element

    1. Click the page element.

    2. On the Format menu, click Properties.

    3. Click the Style button.

    4. Do one of the following:

      • To apply a style from the embedded cascading style sheet (CSS) for the page, click the Class box, and then click a selection in the list of available class selectors.

      • To apply a style from an external CSS, type the name of the style in the Class box.

      • To apply an ID selector, type the name of the selector in the ID box.

      • To create an inline CSS, click Format, and then click Font, Paragraph, Border, Numbering, or Position to specify the formatting characteristics.

Note  If the dialog box does not have a Style button, you can apply a style to a page element by using the Style box. To do so, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Style box Button image and then click the built-in or user-defined style you want to apply.
