Add a graphic to a Web page

You can add a graphic to your Web page from a variety of sources.

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Place the insertion point where you want to add a graphic.
  3. Do one of the following:

ShowAdd a graphic from a file

  1. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
  2. Locate the file you want to add, and then click Insert.

ShowAdd clip art from the Clip Organizer

  1. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
  2. In the Clip Art task pane, in the Search for box, type a word or phrase that describes the clip you want.

    If you want to limit your search to a specific clip art collection or file type, do the following:

    • In the Search in list, clear the check boxes next to the collections you do not want to search.
    • In the Results should be list, select the file types you want.

  3. Click Go.
  4. In the search results list, click the graphic you want to add.

  1. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click From Scanner or Camera.
  2. Under Device, click the device you want to add a graphic from.
  3. Click the resolution that you want.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To add the graphic in its original form, click Insert.
    • To adjust the properties of the graphic, click Custom Insert, and then select the graphics you want to add.

ShowAdd a graphic from a digital camera

  1. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click From Scanner or Camera.
  2. Under Device, click the device you want to add a graphic from.
  3. Click Custom Insert.
  4. Select the graphic that you want to add and then click Get Pictures.

    ShowTip

    To select more than one graphic, hold down CTRL and select the graphics you want.

Notes

  • When you save the page, Microsoft FrontPage prompts you to save embedded files to your Web site. Unless you specify otherwise, graphics that use 256 or fewer distinct colors are automatically converted to GIF, while all other graphics are converted to JPEG.
  • You can choose not to save the graphic to your Web site by clicking Set Action in the Save Embedded Files dialog box, which appears when you save a page. For local files, a reference to the graphic is created on your page. However, if the graphic is removed from that location, you will no longer see the graphic on your own page.
