Create a connection between two Web Parts

Open a page that contains one or more Web Parts, and then do the following:

  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Right-click the Web Part you want to create a connection from, and then click Web Part Connections.
  3. In the Web Part Connections Wizard, under Choose the action on the source Web Part to use for this connection, in the list, click the action you want.

    The options in the list will vary depending on the type of Web Part you are working with.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Specify the location of the Web Part you want to connect to by doing one of the following:
    • To create a connection to a Web Part on the current page, click Connect to a Web Part on this page.
    • To create a connection to a Web Part on another page in the Web site, click Connect to a Web Part on another page in this Web.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Target Web Part list, click the Web Part you want to create a connection to.
  8. In the Target Action list, click the action you want.
  9. Click Next.
  10. In the Columns from Web Part list, click the name of the column you want.
  11. In the Columns in Web Part list, click the column you want, and then click Next.
  12. Click Finish.
