About using an existing database

Important   The following procedures will not work on a Web site located on a server running Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.

If the Use an existing database connection option is unavailable in the active Web site, do one the following:

ShowIf you want to use the Database Interface Wizard in a new site

  1. Click Cancel to close the Database Interface Wizard.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Site Settings. On the Database tab, click Add.
  3. Configure the database connection that you want.
  4. With the current site still open, run the Database Interface Wizard, making sure to select the Add to current Web site option. The Use an existing database connection option will be activated.

ShowIf you want to use the Database Interface Wizard to manage a database in an existing site

  1. On the Tools menu, click Site Settings. On the Database tab, click Add.
  2. Configure the database connection that you want.
  3. With the current site still open, run the Database Interface Wizard, making sure to select the Add to current Web site option. The Use an existing database connection option will be activated.
