Change the color of a theme element
- On the Format menu, click Theme.
- In the Theme task pane, point to the thumbnail for the theme you want to change, and then click the arrow.
- Click Customize, and then click Colors.
- Next to Theme color set, specify whether you want to change colors in the normal or vivid color set.

Click the Custom tab and do one of the following:
- In the Item list, click the item you want to change the color for.
- In the Color list, specify the color you want to use.
- Repeat these steps for each item you want to change the color for.
- Click OK.
- In the Item list, click the item you want to change the color for.
- Click the Color list, and then click More Colors.
- Do one of the following:
Select a color from a browser-safe palette
- Click a color, and then click OK.
- Type the value in the Value box (for example, type HEX={FF,33,00}), and then click OK.
- Click
Select, use the
Eyedropper
to click the color, and then click
OK.
For example, to use a color from a picture on an open page, click a color on the picture.
Create a color average of the colors in a particular region on the screen
- Click Select, use the Eyedropper to draw a box on the screen to specify the region, and then click OK.
Select a different color, or specify a combination for hue-saturation-luminosity or red-green-blue
- Click Custom.
- Under Custom Colors, click a blank box.
- Define a color by entering a combination of values or by selecting a color from the color matrix.
- Click Add to Custom Colors, and then click OK three times to return to the Customize Theme dialog box.
- Click Save As to save the changed theme.
- Type a new name for the theme (unless you have modified a custom
theme), and then click
OK.
Note When you modify a preset theme, you must save your changes to a new theme; you cannot overwrite a preset theme.
