Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003

When I click the submit button, nothing happens.

ShowMake sure you specified a form handler

  1. Right-click the form, and then click Form Properties on the shortcut menu.

  2. From here you can configure your form to send information to:

    • A file in a specified folder

    • An e-mail address

    • A database (one that already exists or that Microsoft FrontPage creates for you)

    • A custom script you write to specify how to save your form results

ShowMake sure the button is set as a submit button

  1. Double-click the submit button.

  2. Make sure that Button type is set as Submit, and not Normal or Reset.

ShowWhen I click the submit button, all the text I typed inside the form disappears.

Verify that your submit button is not set as a reset button.

ShowHow do I get the results I saved to a file on my server?

  • Open the Web site, and then open the _private folder.

This is the default folder where form results are sent. If you configured your form to save to a different folder, open that folder.

Security  When you are configuring your form results to be saved to a file, it is best to keep the default folder that FrontPage sets up for you, _private, which is a hidden folder that site visitors cannot open.

ShowI keep getting an error message that tells me to contact my Webmaster.

  1. Do one of the following (depending on what kind of form it is):

    • Right-click the form, and then click Form Properties on the shortcut menu.

    • Double-click the form.

  2. Check the settings, as appropriate.

  • Contact your Web host or Internet service provider (ISP) and verify that either FrontPage Server Extensions from Microsoft or SharePoint Services (SharePoint Team Services v1.0 from Microsoft or Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services) is installed on the server.

ShowAre your form fields contained within a form?

When you want to create a form, Microsoft FrontPage inserts a rectangular area outlined with a dashed line where you can add text and form fields. If your form fields are not inside this rectangular area, they won't work.

  • To move a form field that is outside the rectangular area, click it, and then drag it inside the dashed line.
