Troubleshoot slide masters

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003

To insert the title master:

  1. On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
  2. On the Slide Master View toolbar, click Insert New Title Master Button image.

ShowThe picture I added to the master is not showing up on some of my slides.

  • You may need to add the picture to additional masters. If you are using multiple design templates, your presentation will contain a slide master for each template. Changes you make to a master affect only the slides that follow that master. If you want the picture to appear throughout your presentation, add it to each master.

Remember also that if you want the picture on title slides, you must add it to the title master.

  • Check to make sure the Omit background graphics from master setting is not selected.
    1. Display a slide that is not showing the expected graphic.
    2. On the Format menu, click Background.
    3. Make sure the Omit background graphics from master check box is cleared.

ShowI changed the placeholders and fonts on some of my slides, but now I want the styles on the slide master to apply to all my slides.

  1. In normal view, if the Slide Layout task pane is not displayed, click Slide Layout on the Format menu.
  2. Select the slide to which you want to reapply the master layout.
  3. In the Slide Layout task pane, find the layout type (for example, Text or Text and Content) whose placeholder and/or font styles you want to reapply.
  4. Click the arrow on that layout and then click Reapply Layout.
