Resize a movie

You can resize a movie to the full size of the slide (though that may not be the optimal size for viewing the movie).

  1. Click the inserted movie you want to resize.
  2. Do one of the following:

    ShowResize to full screen

    1. Right-click the movie and on the menu select Edit Movie Object.
    2. In the Movie Options dialog box, under Display options, check the Zoom to full screen check box.

    ShowResize by dragging

    1. Position the mouse pointer over one of the sizing handles.
    2. To increase or decrease the size in one or more directions, drag the mouse away from or toward the center. For additional control, do any of the following:
      • To keep the center of the movie in the same place, hold down CTRL while dragging the mouse.
      • To keep the movie from snapping to the grid after sizing, press ALT while dragging the mouse.

Release the mouse, and then release CTRL or ALT.

Note  By default, Microsoft PowerPoint maintains the proportions (locks the aspect ratio) of the movie as you drag.

ShowResize to a selected height and width

    1. On the Format menu, click Picture, and then click the Size tab.

    2. To maintain the movie's height-to-width proportions, select the Lock aspect ratio check box.

    3. Do one of the following:

      • Under Size and rotate, type a number or use the arrows to enter a number in the Height and Width boxes.
      • Under Scale, type a number or use the arrows to enter a number for the percentage of size you want relative to the movie's original size.

ShowReset to best scale for presentation

    1. On the Format menu, click Picture, and then click the Size tab.
    2. Select the Best scale for slide show check box, and then click Reset.

    Notes

    • Selecting the Best scale for slide show check box prevents videos from skipping when they're played.
    • If you have inserted the movie as an object that plays in Microsoft Windows Media Player, the Best scale for slide show option may not be available.
