Change the line spacing of a paragraph

  1. On the slide, select the paragraphs whose spacing you want to change.

    ShowHow?

    • To select a single paragraph, click the paragraph.
    • To select an entire list, either drag to select all the text, or select the placeholder by clicking the text inside it, and then clicking the border.
  2. On the Format menu, click Line Spacing.
  3. Do any or all of the following:
    • To change the spacing above and within a paragraph, under Line spacing, type or click the arrows to change the number.
    • To change the spacing above a paragraph, under Before paragraph, type or click the arrows to change the number.
    • To change the spacing below a paragraph, under After paragraph, type or click the arrows to change the number.

ShowTips

  • Text AutoFit is on by default, so if you increase line spacing, text may resize in order to fit into the placeholder.
  • You can also select text on the Outline tab in normal view and change the spacing. The effect appears on the slide.
  • To change line spacing for an entire presentation, change the spacing on the slide master. To display the slide master, on the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
