Troubleshoot templates

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003

I created a new blank.pot template as the basis for new presentations, but Microsoft PowerPoint doesn't seem to be using that file because I don't see my changes.

When you create a new blank.pot template, you must save it to the default folder for templates; this is the folder that PowerPoint defaults to when you select Design Template as the file type in the Save As dialog box. If you saved the blank.pot file to a different folder, PowerPoint will not find it.

ShowI changed the default design for new "blank" presentations, but now I want the original styles back.

To apply the original default design to a presentation:

  1. Open the presentation to which you want to apply the default design.
  2. On the Formatting toolbar, click Design Button image.
  3. Under Available for use, click the first item, Default Design.

If you want to use the original default design for all new presentations, either rename the blank.pot file or delete it.
