Change the font for a specific language
The feature or some of the options described in this Help topic are only available if support for an East Asian, South Asian, or right-to-left language is enabled through Microsoft Office Language Settings.
Use this feature if you want to change the font for each type of script in mixed text strings.
- Select the text or the placeholder containing the text you want to change.
- On the Format menu, click Font.
- Do one or more of the following:

If you want to change the font for Latin text
— for example, English or French — click the arrow next to the Latin text font box, select the font, and then select any additional font options. -
If you want to change the font for East Asian text
— for example, Japanese or Korean — click the arrow next to the Asian text font box, select the font, and then select any additional font options. -
If you want to change the font for right-to-left or South Asian text
— for example, Arabic or Thai — click the arrow next to the Complex scripts font box, select the font, and then select any additional font options.
