Installing LANSA on IBM i

4.1.2 Special Warnings

User Objects in the Program Library

The upgrade process deletes all objects from the program library before starting the upgrade. Any user defined (i.e. non-LANSA) objects should be moved to another library (or backed up) before commencing the upgrade procedures.

These objects can be moved back again after the upgrade has been completed however, the storage of user defined objects in the LANSA program library is not recommended.

Multilingual Users

If you have customised versions of the DC@M01 message file in your national language (that could be DC@M01ITL or DC@M01JPN) then they should be moved or saved before the upgrade is started. After the upgrade has been completed they should be moved or restored to the program library.

Japanese Language Developers

If you have additional help text members in files DC@F01 or DC@F41 (e.g.: DC@F01JPN or DC@F41JPN) then these members should be moved or saved before the upgrade is started. After the upgrade have been completed, they should be copied back into new members in the newly installed DC@F01/DC@F41 files.

$$* files in LANSA database library

The upgrade process creates its own database files as $$* files. These $$* files are deleted after a successful upgrade.

Note that if you have renamed any files in the LANSA database library as $$*, they will also be deleted. You should save and move these files before you start the upgrade progress.
