8.6.1 Learning About LANSA

Online Reading

Whether you have installed a new system or upgraded to the current version, there is some information for you to read to ensure you are aware of what is new and available to you.

For new LANSA users, the online guide Introduction to LANSA for i is a good starting point.

Personnel Demonstration System

If you are not familiar with LANSA and the features it offers, you may find it helpful to use the Personnel Demonstration System that is provided in all new LANSA systems. This application comprises a group of fields, files, processes and functions and demonstrates many of LANSA's Repository and display features. The application is compiled and ready to run in both native IBM i mode and from a browser. Data is included.

There is no documentation for this application but there is extensive help text. We suggest you "play" with the application and look at the file and function source that drives it, to gain a good understanding of a LANSA application.

You should load this application if you are planning to use any of the tutorials in the LANSA guides. All tutorials are based on the Personnel Demonstration System.

For more details, refer to 8.5 Testing using the Personnel System.
