Installing LANSA on IBM i

1.1.7 Multi-tier LANSA for the Web Installation

If you are installing LANSA for the Web using two IBM i servers, it is recommended that you start with a 1.1.5 Single-tier LANSA for the Web Installation. Once you have LANSA for the Web working in a Single-tier environment, you can convert to a Multi-tier installation as described in the Task: Upgrade from a Single-tier to a Multi-tier IBM i Web Model.

A Multi-tier installation involves the installation of LANSA software on both the Data/Application Server and the Web Server.

If you are installing a new LANSA for i system that includes LANSA for the Web in a Multi-tier configuration, then you should follow these steps:

On the Data/Application Server:

To install a new LANSA for the Web system on the Data/Application Server, complete the following tasks:

1.  Task: Custom Installation and select the LANSA IBM i and LANSA for Web - Complete Web Install components.

2.  Task: Enter the LANSA License Code.

3.  Task: Install LANSA for the Web Administrator.

4.  Task: LANSA Email Setup on IBM i if you are planning to use email with LANSA.

On the Web Server:

To install the LANSA for the Web software components on the Web Server, complete the following tasks:

1.  Task: Custom Installation and select the LANSA for the Web - Web Server ONLY Installation component.

2.  Task: Configure Multi-tier IBM i LANSA for the Web Installation.

3.  Task: Configure IBM i Web Server.

On the Data/Application Server:

Complete the following tasks:

1.  Task: Test LANSA for i and do the Simple WAM to check my web configuration.
