Installing LANSA on IBM i

3.2.3 Select Software Components

From the list, choose the software components that you wish to install.

If you have selected the Integrator Install, then the LANSA Integrator component will be pre-selected. Press Enter to open the pop-up window to enter the LANSA Integrator Parameters. Be sure you know the Integrator TCP port and Integrator Admin TCP port before you begin.

Enter "Y" to select the component(s) you wish to install and press Enter to continue. For a list of valid combinations, refer to the Software Installation Combinations in the Custom LANSA for i Installations.

When you have selected your required option(s) and pressed Enter, a pop-up window will open for you to enter some details required for the installation.

The path you take through the install process will depend on the components you select.

LANSA IBM i

Enter "Y" to install the LANSA Application Development Environment which is described in What is LANSA for i?

A pop-up window will open for you to specify the Current & New Library Prefix to be used for the installation. If you make no change, the shipped default of DCX will be used.
Note: Do not use Q as the first character of the library prefix as it is used by IBM namespace of Qxxxxx.

LANSA for the Web - Complete Web Install

Enter "Y" to install the components that are used to build LANSA for the Web applications. These components integrate seamlessly with the LANSA Application Development Environment.

If you are using a single-tier installation, you need only install LANSA for the Web using this option.

If you select this option alone, you must already have a LANSA system installed. A pop-up window will open for you to specify the LANSA Program Library name.

For a multi-tier installation, you will also need to request the LANSA for the Web - Web Server ONLY Install. The Web Server ONLY install must be run on the IBM i machine acting as the Web Server.
Go to LANSA for the Web - Parameters.

LANSA Integrator

Enter "Y" to install the components of a Java service framework that allows you to integrate Java Services with LANSA and 3GL applications. For more information, refer to What is the LANSA Integrator?

If LANSA Integrator is selected by itself, a pop-up window will open for you to specify the LANSA Program Library name.

Go to LANSA Integrator Parameters.

Open System Utilities

Enter "Y" to install a library of utilities for experienced developers to manipulate the LANSA environment. These utilities enable global or system level manipulations of a LANSA for i environment. For more information, refer to What are the Open System Utilities?

In the pop-up window, you will be asked to enter the name of the Open System Utilities Library.

Go to Open System Utilities Installation Library.

LANSA for the Web - Web Server ONLY install

Enter "Y" to install the components that are used to execute LANSA for the Web applications on a Web Server in a Multi-tier configuration.

Only select this option if you are using a multi-tier installation.

Go to The Web Server Only - Parameters.
