Back up LANSA Libraries

You must back up the LANSA libraries and IFS directories that you will be upgrading.

As an example, LANSA IFS directories named:

/LANSA_xxxpgmlib and QOpenSys/LANSA_xxxpgmlib

Should the upgrade fail or be interrupted, you will need to restore the old version from this backup before attempting the upgrade again. In the event of a failure, you must follow the restart/recovery procedures that are printed at the end of the job log.

During earlier versions of LANSA, the LANSA install and upgrade objects were placed in QGPL. Now, the LANSA install and upgrade will create its own work library. This work library is LANSAINSxx (where xx is a derived number), for example LANSAINS01. This library is deleted after a successful install or upgrade.

Move communication objects from QGPL?

If you wish to move the communications objects from QGPL before the upgrade, plan to do this now. Refer to LANSA Communications Library for further information.

Do not continue until you are sure that this backup has been completed successfully. It is also recommended that you check your backup to ensure that the backup media has no errors. For example, you might use a DSPTAP command to check your backup tapes.
