4.1.1 Before You Begin Checklist
Before you begin the Upgrade LANSA for i task, check the following:
- Have you reviewed the General Install/Update Checklist? This list has items that are pertinent to the upgrade.
- Do you know which software Components, Partitions and Options you will be upgrading?
If you do not know the answer to this question, stop now and recommence after you have obtained this information. - Have you scheduled the upgrade at a time when no developers, users, or jobs will be using the LANSA system?
- Have you checked that there are no jobs/users accessing LANSA? Check as described in How to check for Active Users.
Note: "users" includes the Listener and JSM. Make sure both are closed. (If not closed, an error message will be displayed indicating that there are still users accessing the system.) - Have you backed up the libraries and any IFS directories required by the LANSA system you will be upgrading? If you are upgrading LANSA Integrator:
- Have you backed up all the Integrator directories from the IFS and the objects library?
- Have you changed any sample source code, job description or sub-system objects? If yes, refer to LANSA Integrator Special Warnings.
- Have you verified that there are no existing installer/loader objects in QGPL? Refer to 4.4.2 Remove old Loader Objects from QGPL for details.
- Have you a plan to move your communication objects from QGPL? Refer to 4.4 LANSA Communications Library for further information.
Note: During earlier versions of LANSA, the LANSA install and upgrade objects were placed in QGPL. Now, the LANSA upgrade creates its own work library. For further information, refer to Back up your Libraries. - Have you reviewed the 4.1.2 Special Warnings?
