Installing LANSA on IBM i

Can I install more than one LANSA System on the same IBM i?

You may install more than one LANSA system on the same IBM i.

Some common reasons for running more than one LANSA system on the same IBM i server include:

  • For security, deployment, or other reasons, your development and production systems require completely separate LANSA systems, that is, you cannot use the partition approach.
  • You require LANSA systems installed in different Auxiliary Storage Pools.
  • If you are installing for a trial or evaluation you would normally install only one system. Additional systems may be installed at a later stage, or you may just choose to partition one system into separate environments.

Following are some considerations for installing multiple LANSA systems:

  • Determine if you will need more than one LANSA for i system installed before you begin your installation.
  • Do not share libraries between your LANSA systems. Each system should have its own unique set of libraries especially for such items as the LANSA communications library.
  • Always install a LANSA for i system into four separate and unique IBM i libraries. For example, if you wish to install two completely separate LANSA for i systems, (e.g. a production system and a development system), you might choose this configuration:

LANSA for i System 1

LANSA for i System 2
