Installing LANSA on IBM i

2.1.2 Typical LANSA for IBM i Installation

The Typical Install is the quickest and easiest way to install a new LANSA for i and LANSA for the Web system on an IBM i Server.

Use this option ONLY if you are:

  • Installing a brand new LANSA system
  • Installing both LANSA for i and LANSA for the Web
  • Using the IBM HTTP Server with CGI to access data
  • Satisfied with the system configuration as described in Summary of Installed Objects. Please check that these objects will suit your site.

If you are planning to use LANSA for the Web, before you start, refer to the overview of all the proposed models in LANSA for the Web Deployment Models in the LANSA for Windows Installation Guide.

Single-Tier LANSA for the Web Installations

The Typical Install loads LANSA for i and LANSA for the Web in a Single-tier LANSA for the Web configuration. The Web Server and the Data/Application Server are installed on a single IBM i machine. For considerations when choosing this model, refer to Web Single-tier model Considerations.

Multi-tier LANSA for the Web Installations

For multi-tier configuration, use the Typical Install to load the required LANSA for i and LANSA for the Web software on the Data/Application Server. You must also use the Custom Install - Web Server Only option to install the necessary components on the Web Server. For considerations when choosing this model, refer to Web Multi-tier Model Considerations.
