The Operator Queue

Before calls arrive at your IPFX Console, they have been processed by an operator queue. The queue decides the order in which calls are delivered to you, plays any standard greetings or announcements and otherwise manages incoming calls.

The operator queue can be in two states: closed, or open

In its closed state the queue will not deliver calls to your Console; it may direct calls to another queue or extension, or it may invite callers to leave a voicemail message. The exact behaviour depends on how the queue has been configured by your Administrator.

In its open state, the operator queue will deliver calls to you - provided that you are logged into the queue.

You may need to open and close the queue manually, or it may follow an automatic schedule

If the queue is not configured to run on a schedule, you will be responsible for opening it manually when you start work and closing it down when you leave at the end of the day.

Alternatively, your Administrator may have set up the operator queue to follow an automatic schedule: opening itself during business hours, and closing itself down after hours or on holidays.

Tip! Find out from your Administrator whether your organisation's Operator queue needs to be opened manually or whether it follows an automatic schedule.
