To Place a Call on Hold

To Hold a Caller at the IPFX Console

1. Ask the caller to hold
2. Click the Hold option.

The held call will recall back to the IPFX Console after a pre-determined interval.  This interval may be changed by modifying the Hold Recall setting (see "" on page 53).

To Hold a Caller for a Specific Extension

Use the Hold For function when you want to place a caller on hold for a particular, busy, extension. The extension number will be displayed along with the call, to remind you for whom the caller is on hold. There are two ways of using the Hold For function. These are:

1. Ask the caller to Hold
2. Click the Hold For button
3. Click the appropriate DSS key

OR:

1. Ask the caller to Hold
2. Right-click on the appropriate DSS key.
3. Select Hold For option

The call will remain on hold indefinitely, or until the called party's extension becomes available. When this occurs, the call will begin to ring on the extension.

If the ringing call is not answered within 10 seconds, the call will return to the Console operator instead of going to the extension's voicemail; the system assumes that callers are on 'hold for' precisely because they do not wish to leave voicemail.

Note: You cannot put a caller on 'Hold For' for an extension that is set to a location other than Office or Queue.

To Return a Call to Hold Without Answering

A held call automatically returns to the IPFX Console after a certain amount of time. Such calls can be sent back to hold without being answered by the operator.

1. Locate the ringing call in the list at the left of the screen.
2. Right-click on the call.
3. Click Hold from the context menu.

To change the length of time that a held call will remain on hold before being returned to the IPFX Console

1.    Click the Options button in the IPFX Console Toolbar.

2.    Select the Settings Tab.

3.    Change the Hold Recall timer to the time you wish for calls to recall back to the IPFX Console.

Note: The Hold For function will not automatically recall back to the IPFX Console, however you can retrieve the held call by double clicking on it.
