Various losses occur at the
individual devices within a hydraulic control chain. These
consist essentially of mechanical, electrical and volumetric
losses.
After an installation has been in service for some time, there will be a change in particular in the volumetric efficiency of the pump, as the result, for example, of cavitation (see topic 35).
