[16] Circuit symbols for double acting cylinders
Double acting cylinders
have two ports to allow pressure fluid to be applied to both
cylinder chambers. The symbol for a differential cylinder is
distinguished from the symbol for a double acting cylinder by the
two lines added to the end of the piston rod. The area ratio is
generally 2:1. In the case of cylinders with double- ended piston
rods, the symbol shows that the piston areas are of equal size
(synchronous cylinders).
