Tracking Kitting Item Components
Not all items that are in a kit need to be given lot numbers; only those that require tracking.
-
In the I/C Items form, use the Finder to display each item to be included in the kit. (For example, if you had created a master item called Desk Accessories, you would now choose pens, highlighters, paper clips, stapler, and so on, to make up the set.)
-
On the Items form, select the Serial Number option for each item that will become a component of the kit, then save before selecting the next item.
-
After selecting the Serial Number option for your final component and saving the change, close I/C Items.
-
Open Kitting Items. (The icon is located in the I/C Items folder.)
-
Use the Finder to select the master item number you created for the kit.
-
Assign a number in the Kitting Number field, enter a description, then click the Go button.
-
Enter a Comment if necessary, and, if this kit number will be the usual version of the kits you create, select the Use as Default option.
-
In the grid, use the Finder in the Component Item Number column to select components for this kit, then enter quantities and the unit cost for each. Components can be the items you selected the Serial Number option in step 2, or other items.
-
Click Add to add this Kitting Item, then click Close.
-
Perform Day End Processing.
After creating kits, you open Order Entry to assign serial numbers to the components that are being tracked. See Order Entry online help for instructions.
