Overview

  • You can post transactions as you enter them, or you can save transactions after entry and post them later using this procedure.

  • When you post transactions, the program immediately updates item quantities so you know your inventory levels.

Online posting or batch processing

Inventory Control lets you choose between posting transactions when you enter them, or posting them later using the Post Transactions form.

To enter transactions, save them, and post them later:

  1. Enter receipts, shipments, adjustments, stock transfers, item assemblies, and internal usage transactions.

Click the Save button after entering each transactions. Do not click Post.

  1. Print transaction listings of transactions to check they were entered correctly.

  2. Edit transactions, if necessary, and save them again.

  3. Follow the instructions below to post the saved transactions.

To post inventory receipts, shipments, adjustments, transfer, assemblies, and internal usage transactions:

  1. Open Inventory Control > I/C Transactions > Post Transactions.

  1. Choose the types of transactions that you want to post, and specify a range of transactions (or accept the default ranges to post all unposted transactions).

  2. Click the Process button.

  3. Click OK when posting is finished, and then close the Post Transactions form.

Note: If the program displays a message that no transactions were posted, this may mean that all transactions were posted immediately when they were entered (using the Post button).

After posting

  • Run Day End Processing to update item and sales statistics, audit information, and to generate general ledger transactions.

Depending on your program settings, posting will also update the cost of goods in stock and the cost of goods that you've sold.

  • Print the posting journal for the type of transactions that you posted (after running day-end processing).

You can also print the Transaction History report to list audit trail information. This is especially useful if you cleared the posting journal.
