Choosing E-mail as the Print Destination

Overview

You can create a report file that can be attached to an e-mail.

Note: You must be assigned to a security group that has permission to change the print destination. (Otherwise, the only option is Printer.)

To change the default print destination to E-mail:

  1. Click File > Print Destination.

  2. Select E-mail.

  3. Select either Adobe Acrobat (PDF) or Rich Text Format (RTF) as the file format for the e-mail attachment.

You can open PDF files with Adobe Acrobat Reader (available as a free download from the Adobe Software website).

You can open RTF files with most word-processing programs.

  1. Click OK.

Note: When you e-mail audit reports, G/L allows you to clear the data for them.

If recipient drills down to transaction

The e-mail recipient needs the same database as the sender, with G/L installed, if they are going to drill down from a report to the underlying transaction.

When you print with an e-mail destination

Sage ERP Accpac:

  • Creates a PDF or RTF version of the report.

  • Opens your default e-mail program, and attaches the report file to a new e-mail.

In Microsoft Windows, the default e-mail program is set in Internet Options, in the Control Panel.
