FR Drilldown

Using the FR Drilldown command (located on the FR Menu), you can view original transactions after a report has been generated in the Financial Statement Designer. (You need to run the FR View function before you can use FR Drilldown).

Note that FR Drilldown works only with formulas that contain the following transaction functions:

  • FRTRN

  • FRTRNA

  • FRTRNCR

  • FRTRNDR

You can see how FR Drilldown works by opening the sample spreadsheet, quickinc4.xls. Run FR View, right-click on a results cell, then choose FR Drilldown from the ensuing drop-down menu. (Only results cells with a red mark in the upper-right corner can be used for drilldown.) The original transaction details will appear in a separate window.

Note: The FR Drilldown feature is not available for edited FRTRN, FRTRNA, FRTRNCR, FRTRNDR commands even though running FRView will yield the correct amounts. The following are examples of edited commands:

=FRTRN(“NETP”)+100

=ROUND(FRTRN(“NETP”),0)

To drill down from a transaction in Journal Entry, click the Drilldown button. This opens the underlying transaction. See Drilldown Button.

A drilldown information option has been added to the G/L Print Financial Statements form and to FR View so that you can include drilldown information in generated output. This feature is available when saving the output in Excel file format or when sending the output to E-mail in Print Financial Statements. (The recipient of an e-mailed report must be using the same database, with G/L installed, if they expect to drill down to underlying transactions in the report.)

Note: A spreadsheet containing a large number of drilldown link comments may not be able to open in FR Excel nor in the regular Excel program.
