Sage ERP Accpac General Ledger 6.0

image\field_bt.gifG/L Options — Account tab

This tab lets you change settings that determine how accounts are processed in the General Ledger.

You would usually change account settings only after year-end closing.

Options on this tab include:

  • Multicurrency accounting. You specify whether the ledger uses multicurrency accounting and, if so, the default rate type.

  • Account groups. Whether you will assign each account to a group.

  • Quantities. Whether you will keep quantity balances (such as number of units sold), and, if so, how many decimal places you want to use for quantities.

  • Default closing account. You close income and expense accounts at year end to this account.

For information about other G/L Options tabs, choose from the tabs shown below:

Multicurrency and quantities settings

You can turn on the Multicurrency or Maintain Quantities options at any time in the Options form in G/L Setup. But, once you turn them on, you cannot turn them off.

You can increase the number of decimal places for quantities at any time (up to 3), but you cannot decrease the number of decimals.

Note: The Multicurrency option will not appear on this tab unless you install the Sage ERP Accpac Multicurrency product and chose the multicurrency option on the Company Profile.

Account groups and retained earnings account

You can change your choice for the Use Account Groups option, or change the default closing account at any time.

G/L Security

After turning on G/L Security, you use the G/L Account Permissions form to define account access permissions for individual users.

Note: Depending on the Default Access setting, you will need to use the Account Permissions form mainly to grant access to accounts, or to restrict it.
