Testing using the DEM Partition

The DEM partition is a default demonstration partition loaded with a new LANSA system. The DEM partition includes a very simple Personnel System demonstration application and files. For details about the application, refer to Personnel System Demonstration Files.

If you are using a Visual LANSA development environment, the Partition Initialization provides an option to install the Personnel Demonstration system. If you choose this option it will load the Personnel System database and executable objects, and add data to the database files.

Alternatively, you can create a DEM partition on the IBM i and import the PERSYS save file from the LANSA for IBM i installation DVD. For Windows, use the Partition Initialization from the LANSA development environment login dialog.

Before you can use the DEM partition to check if your Web configuration is correct, it must be Web enabled. If you have recently installed it, it will be Web enabled.

You can easily Web enable a partition, or check that it is Web enabled. The procedure is described in the Web Administration Guide in Web-enable the Partition.

If you do not have a DEM partition, you may perform a test in any existing LANSA partitions that has been Web enabled. You will simply need to create a Web enabled process and test function.
