2.3.4 LANSA Integrator Questions
Following are some frequently asked questions about installing and configuring LANSA Integrator:
When should I install the User Agent?
If you need a flexible end-user utility to upload files to a JSM HTTP Service or if you need to send MQ-Series messages, you will want to install the User Agent.
The User Agent is designed as a very simple end-user upload utility.
If you have no other LANSA software on your machine, you may prefer to install User Agent using the Other Feature install. Refer to Task: Install Other Features.
No license code is required to use the User Agent on the end user PC. A license code is required on the JSM Server being contacted.
When should I install RFI?
If you are a Java developer and you wish to use the LANSA Integrator Remote Function Invocation, then you will need to install RFI.
If you have no other LANSA software on your machine, you may prefer to install RFI using the Other Feature install. Refer to Task: Install Other Features.
When should I install Studio?
You should always install Studio. Studio is the desktop interface to the JSM server instance. It allows bi‑directional file transfer between the user desktop and the JSM server. Studio allows projects to be created and properties to be retrieved and published to the JSM server. The XML Wizard, SOAP Wizard and editors are executed from Studio.
When should I use the Independent Integrator Install?
The RFI and User Agent Independent Install is used when RFI and/or the User Agent is being installed on a machine that contains no other LANSA products. If the machine contains a Visual LANSA System or other non-Visual LANSA products, you should use the integrated install programs from the LANSA Windows Software Main Menu.
