8.2 Task: Test Java Service Manager on Windows
The Java Service Manager can be accessed using the LANSA Built-In Functions. It cannot be accessed using 3GL programs on Windows. On an IBM i, you can use 3GL programs.
Testing the Java Service Manager task includes these steps:
Before You Begin
Before you begin to test the JSM Server on Windows, check the following:
- Have you installed the JSM Server?
- Have you installed the JSM Server licenses?
- Have you installed Studio, User Agent, or RFI? (These are optional.)
- If you are planning to use the User Agent, do you know the IP address of the JSM Server?
- Do you have a Visual LANSA Data/Application Server installed? The Visual LANSA Data/Application Server can be installed on the JSM Server or on another server.
Step 1. Start JSM Administrator
If the JSM Administrator service's Start-up Type is set to Automatic, Microsoft Service Control Manager will start the service automatically during system startup. If it is set to Manual, you need to use Microsoft Service Control Manager to start the JSM Administrator. JSM Administrator starts the Java Virtual Machine and launches the Java Service Manager.
If the JSM Server does not start, refer to Troubleshooting.
Step 2. Review the Online Tutorials
- Review the tutorial section of the LANSA Integrator Guide for a set of introductory exercises.
