2.3.2 Visual LANSA Questions
Following are some frequently asked questions about the Visual LANSA installation/upgrade:
May I initialize my Slave Visual LANSA system if I am not connected to a Master System?
No, you may not. It is essential when first installing Visual LANSA that it is able to connect to the Master.
Note: If a database logon or communications links has failed during a Visual LANSA installation, you may not have been able to complete the system initialization. You do not have to reinstall the software. Simply logon to Visual LANSA to complete the initialization. The initialization program will be called when Visual LANSA is executed for the first time.
May I change from one installation model to another?
You may install multiple versions of Visual LANSA and switch between these different versions.
You must not change a Visual LANSA System into any other type of system. This is particularly important when the existing system is a VCS Master. The VCS Master repository is fundamentally different to a Slave repository with the VCS Master system containing no reliable Security or Task information.
You must install a new Visual LANSA System and move your applications to the new system.
Should I install and use the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express database?
The Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express database is shipped with the Visual LANSA software. If a supported database is not found, the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express database will be installed.
Note: You are only licensed to use the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express database for Visual LANSA development. If you deploy an application that uses this database, you must obtain a separate license from Microsoft.
Should I install and use the Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler?
The Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler is shipped with the Visual LANSA software. If a supported compiler is not found, this compiler will be installed.
