EISA Bus Computer Considerations: AT E Series Devices

AT E Series devices manufactured before December 1995 have a Plug and Play EEPROM programmed to request three 16-bit DMA channels (from channels 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7). For AT E Series devices manufactured after December 1995, the EEPROM requests only DMA channels 5, 6, and 7.

If you have an EISA bus computer and want to use DMA channels 0, 1, 2, or 3 with your newer AT E Series device, you need to run the E Series EEPROM Update Utility. For more information, refer to Updating Your AT E Series EEPROM.
