Introduction to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

You use MAX to perform the following actions with your National Instruments measurement and SCXI devices:

  • Configure resources and other device-specific settings for measurement devices in your system
  • Test the resources and the functionality of measurement devices in your system
  • Add and remove a measurement or SCXI device

MAX informs other NI programs which products you have in your system and how they are configured. When you run an application using NI-DAQ, the software reads the configuration to determine which devices you have configured.

Note  Special considerations exist for specific operating systems. Refer to Operating System Considerations for more information.

To check the system resources a DAQ device is using and to select attached accessories, expand Devices and Interfaces»Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices in the configuration tree. Click your device to see information on the device resources. The information appears on the Attributes tab in the middle MAX panel. For more information, refer to Accessing DAQ Devices.

Note  Press <F5> or select View»Refresh to refresh the screen if your device does not appear under Devices and Interfaces.
