Adding Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Remote Device Access

The Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Remote Device Access (RDA) feature lets you use your computer to control National Instruments DAQ devices plugged into other computers on the same network. This feature works only with programs written using the LabVIEW Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) VIs. Your programs do not require modifications to use this feature. Access to the remote devices is transparent to your program.

To add a remote device, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click Devices and Interfaces»Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices, and select Add Device.
  2. In the Add Device window, select the Remote Device option, and click Next.
  3. In the Select Remote Computer window, enter the remote computer name or IP address in the Remote Computer Name/IP Address edit box. Or, click Browse to browse the network for the computer name. Click Next.
Note  Your computer may not recognize a remote computer name starting with numbers or using apostrophes.
  1. Select the device you want to use from the Remote Configuration device list. Click Next.
  2. Select the local device number you want to use.
  3. Click Finish.

To set a password for your RDA system, refer to Remote Access Settings.
