AO (Analog Output) Settings
To configure your AO settings, follow these steps:
- Expand Devices and Interfaces»Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices in the configuration tree.
- Right-click the device you want to configure, and select Properties.
–or–
Select the device, and click Properties at the top of the Attributes pane. - Click the AO tab to set up the following DAQ device analog output settings. The analog output settings you see depend on your DAQ device.
Polarity
In the Polarity selection box, set the default analog output polarity for the device to any of the following:
Bipolar—A signal range that has both positive and negative values.
Unipolar—A signal range that is always positive.
Bipolar External Reference—A bipolar range that has a minimum and maximum value equal to the supplied external reference positive and negative values.
Unipolar External Reference—A unipolar signal that has a maximum value equal to the supplied external reference value.
If you select one of the external reference selections, set the voltage in the External Reference Voltage selection box.
Note If you are not using a Plug and Play DAQ device or a parallel port DAQ device, you might need to set the analog input jumpers accordingly to match the Polarity you selected. Refer to your device documentation for specific jumper settings. External Reference Voltage
In the External Reference Voltage selection box, specify the voltage connected to the external reference I/O pin on your device. This setting is only shown if you select an external reference setting for Polarity.
Output Channel Type
In the Output Channel Type selection box, set the default analog output channel type to either voltage or current.
