Distributing DMA Channels among Multiple Devices
If you have more than one AT E Series device, the first device that Windows 2000/XP configures may receive all available DMA channels, allocating none to the second device.
To free one or two of the DMA channels allocated to Logical Device 1 of the first device, choose Basic configuration 0001 or 0002. Each configuration allocates one or no DMA channels, respectively. One or two DMA channels are now free for other devices.
To allocate the available DMA channels to a second AT E Series device, do one of the following:
- Restart your computer.
- Remove the second device from the Device Manager. In Windows 2000/XP, right-click any device in the Device Manager window and select Scan for hardware changes. The Device Manager detects the second device again and allocates resources to it.
If Logical Device 2 of your first device was allocated a DMA channel, your first device now has one or two DMA channels available to use, depending on which Basic configuration you chose for Logical Device 1. To free the DMA channel allocated to Logical Device 2, refer to Freeing All DMA Channels from an AT E Series Device.
