Insert a rich text box
You can create a rich text box on your form that lets users enter formatted text, paragraph breaks, tables, lists, and images when they fill out the form. Rich text boxes are bound to fields.
Insert a rich text box (automatically create the data source)
You can have Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 automatically create the data source when you insert rich text boxes (as well as other controls). If you do this, InfoPath creates a field in the data source that is bound to the rich text box.
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the rich text box.
- If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu.
- In the Controls task pane, select the Automatically create data source check box.
Note If the check box is unavailable, the form's design does not allow the data source to be automatically created. You must insert a rich text box that is bound to an existing field or to a field that you create.
- Under Insert controls, click Rich Text Box.
- To specify the type of rich text that users can enter, double-click the rich text box that was inserted on the form, click the Display tab, and then select or clear the check boxes under Available formatting.
Insert a rich text box (bind to an existing field)
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the rich text box.
Note If you are binding the rich text box to a repeating field, the rich text box must be inside a repeating table or repeating section.
- If the Data Source task pane is not visible, click Data Source on the View menu.
- In the Data Source task pane, right-click the field that you want to bind the rich text box to, and then click Rich Text Box on the shortcut menu.
Note If Rich Text Box is not on the shortcut menu, make sure that the field has a rich text data type.
- To specify the type of rich text that users can enter, double-click the rich text box that was inserted on the form, click the Display tab, and then select or clear the check boxes under Available formatting.
